A New simple and selective spectrophotometric method has been described for determination of Fe (III) in synthetic mixture. The method is based on complex formation of Fe (III) with N'-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-3-(4-o-tolylpiperazin-1-yl) propanehydrazide (HTP) immediately in aqueous medium pH 4 at room temperature (27±1oC). The complex showed maximum absorption wavelength at 410 nm. Beer’s law is obeyed in the concentration range of 1.116-12.276 μg.mL-1 with apparent molar absorptivity (0.3072 x 104 L mol-1cm-1) and Sandell’s sensitivity (0.018 μg/cm2/0.001 absorbance units). The tolerance limit of various foreign ions was reported. Proposed method was successfully applied in determination of Fe (III) in synthetic mixture
