Nowadays diabetes isa ‘World Threat’ in human health. For prevention andcontrol of diabetesmellitus, different synthetic drugs wre consumed deliberately by the patients inspite of knowing the harm-ful effect. In the modern scenario, people arebecoming conscious about the uses of herbal antidiabetic drugs.Among so many herbsrepensL. (Keshardam) has ethnobiological reports on antidiabetic activity. Inthis study, the aqueous extract ofJ. repens(50mg/100gm/body wt/day for 32 days consecutively) was fedmarked recovery in different disturbancesn diabetic rats. The Blood glucose level wassignificantly reduced (p<0.05) inJ. repens-treated group at 39day (day of sacrifice). The SGOT,SGPT, Total Serum Protein, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Serum Alkaline Phosphatase, Urea, andCreatininelevel were showed a significant change inthesupplemented groupcompared tothe diabetic. Intheliver, necrosis of hepatocytes caused vacuolation in between hepatic chords in diabetic group, which was partially recovered byJ. repensextract showing compactness of liver tissues.Similarly,hypertro-phy was also observed in renal glomeruli and renal tubules due to STZ treatment.So\\present study\highlights thatJ. repensextract bears the potentiality of antidiabetic activity. As in the diabetic rats, itmay beto poor level of antioxiglucose, cellular degeneration, hepatotoxicity,,which can be prevented byJ. repensextract possibly due to presence of antioxidant-polyphenol compounds. In broader future, theJ. repensshould beanherbal patent against diabetesmellitus, which will be of low costavailable for the common people.
