The aim of this work is to develop and validate the derivative spectrophotometric method for determination of theproton pump inhibitorRabeprazolesodiumin pharmaceutical formulations. The technique was applied by using simplereagents 0.5% KmnO4and 2N NaOH solutions.The proposed method for the determination of Rabeprazole sodium showedmolar absorptivity of 23.837x102. Linear regression of absorbance onconcentration gave the equation y= 000087×-0.056witha correlation coefficient of 0.9991. The difference absorption spectrum of Rabeprazole sodium showed maximum absorbanceat 695 nm and obeyed Beer’s law in the concentration range of 20-100g/ml. The proposed method is simple and rapid.
